The Office of the Executive Vice Provost, Academic and Faculty Affairs supports the faculty and academic programs of the University of Southern California. As a university defined by its exceptional faculty and academic rigor, it is our responsibility to cultivate an environment that affords faculty and students every opportunity to succeed in their academic endeavors. The Office of the Executive Vice Provost, Academic and Faculty Affairs plays a pivotal role as the university continually strives to expand its influence and position and realize its vision of becoming the premier private research university devoted to serving the public good in the 21st century.
Faculty Affairs works to promote faculty excellence at USC by ensuring that university programs support faculty and academic quality and that university processes provide fair and equitable treatment to the entire faculty. Faculty Affairs is responsible for assisting the provost in implementing university policy regarding faculty recruitment, appointments, promotions, tenure, development, and salary determinations. Important faculty information and resources are available on the Faculty Portal (hot key).
Academic Affairs supports the university’s commitment to academic excellence by promoting rigorous and innovative programs that attract and retain the best graduate and undergraduate students—equipping them with disciplinary depth and interdisciplinary breadth—and by cultivating a vibrant and diverse intellectual community at USC. Academic Affairs advances the provost’s academic priorities, supports cross-school educational initiatives, and conducts academic program reviews. The office includes the Graduate School, Undergraduate Programs, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, and the Center for Excellence in Teaching.
